Kemper is dedicated to maintaining the trust or our policyholders
and others with whom we do business. This Privacy Notice will provide
you with our practices and policies with respect to the handling
of personal information and compliance with privacy laws.
Why Kemper Collects and Discloses Personal Information
Kemper collects and discloses personal information only for the
purpose of serving the insurance related needs of its customers
(current and former policyholders and insureds). These needs include
evaluating, providing policy related or administrative services,
including compliance with regulatory requirements, claims investigation,
adjustment and coverage assessment. Kemper may also collect and
disclose personal information about third parties with respect to
claims made against customers.
Types of Nonpublic Personal Information Kemper Collects
Information that may be collected includes, but is not limited
to, an individual’s name, address, telephone number, social
security number, motor vehicle reports, policy number, premium and
payment history, medical history and credit reports. We may also
collect information from claimants including his or her name, address,
telephone number, social security number, claim number, date of
loss, type of loss, cause of loss, and the value of a claim.
We may initiate the collection of certain nonpublic personal information
when administering or servicing an insurance policy, or in the handling
of a claim. The information may be collected from sources such as
our affiliates, independent insurance agents or brokers, policyholders,
claimants or other third party sources. Examples of these third
party sources may be witnesses to incidents, or persons retained
by us or by the claimant in the process of servicing a policy or
handling (ie: physicians, attorneys, accountants or appraisers).
We may also collect nonpublic personal information when you use
our corporate web sites. Information is obtained through online
collecting devices known as “cookies.” Cookies are sets
of information that our web server assigns to your hard drive for
recording purposes when you visit our web site. Kemper may place
an electronic “cookie” in the browser files of a visitor’s
computer. Cookies do not enable us to access any personal information
about our visitors. Cookies do allow us to analyze guests’
use of our sites. The purpose of this analysis is for us to learn
which areas of our sites are most popular and useful so we can plan
reviews, improvements and updates accordingly. These cookies do
not gather any other personal information from you or your computer.
Disclosure of Nonpublic Personal Information
Nonpublic personal information may be shared with affiliated and
nonaffiliated third parties in order to administer or service an
insurance policy or a claim, and as otherwise permitted or required
by law. Our affiliates include insurance companies, third party
administrators performing services on our behalf, investment companies,
brokers/agents and other providers of financial products and services.
Unaffiliated third parties include, but are not limited to, an independent
insurance agent or broker, the policyholder, persons or organizations
retained to assist in the claim process or in the administration
of policies (ie: medical providers, appraisers), reinsurers, and
others as permitted or required by law.
Usage of Nonpublic Personal Information
We use nonpublic personal information to administer or service
a policy, administer a claim, bill charges, or as otherwise permitted
by law. Nonaffiliated third parties having access to our nonpublic
personal information are prohibited from using such information
for any marketing purposes except as permitted by law. Nonaffiliated
third parties may use such information only to perform their obligations
to us, or one of our policyholders, claimants, or as otherwise permitted
by law. Nonaffiliated third parties are prohibited from disclosing
any nonpublic personal information to any other party.
Kemper’s Security of Nonpublic Personal Information
Personal information recorded in documents is securely stored at
Kemper’s offices and at the offices of its affiliated companies.
We control access to nonpublic personal information to those who
need access to service our policyholders and to others as permitted
or required by law. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural
safeguards to better protect the information under our control.
Kemper employees, contractors and representatives are under obligation
to access personal information only when they have a legitimate
business need to do so.

Amendments
Kemper may amend this policy from time to time at its discretion.
